Child Ministry

Children
  • 11:00 regular service until after children’s message, then kids are taken to Sunday School class where parents pick up  when regular service is over.

Kelly Baloun is the Director of Children’s Ministries. She is very energetic, and the young children love her and her volunteers. Kelly is very gifted in her interactions with children and draws them in easily with her kind and encouraging manner. She has a deep faith and a clear understanding of Biblical teachings and is able to instill those teachings in ways that are easily understood by the different age groups which are in her care. We encourage you to bring your children so they can experience this uplifting ministry.

Volunteer

Music
The Ministry of Music offers the following opportunities for anyone wanting to participate. Our Handbell Choir meets on Tuesday's at 6pm in the Sanctuary and the Chancel Choir meets on Wednesdays at 7pm in the Choir room. If you have any questions please contact Mark at mark@fumcapopka.com.

Education
FUMC stresses the importance of all members being disciples for Christ.  One way we learn is through Bible Studies which we provide at least nine months each year.  We are always looking for people who wish to attend such a study class and those who would like to teach or be a leader for a small group study.  The name "disciple" means "learner" and there is no better way to grow in discipleship than to get involved in learning.  Please note the classes that are available and plan to attend.  If there is not a study time that is convenient for you, or if you have a particular study material you wish we would provide, please let me know.  Sara Kelly, skelly013@cfl.rr.com.

Bereavement
We reach out to grieving families in our congregation and offer a place for those who attend funerals to have a time of fellowship by providing a meal or reception.  We contact family for their preferences, set up, prepare, serve and clean up as a service. You may volunteer by contacting the chairman, Sharon Fisher.

Food
XYZ is a group of seniors who meet on the first Monday of every month for good food and Christian fellowship. Each month the main dish is furnished and everyone attending is asked to bring a dish that coordinates with the main dish.  Dessert and drinks are also furnished. We begin our meeting with a devotion and short announcements. Everyone is welcome and we encourage you to bring a friend. Help in the kitchen is always welcome.
Wednesday night service, which begins at 5:30, also includes a small meal and everyone is invited to attend. Here’s another opportunity to volunteer in the kitchen!
If you want to volunteer please contact Joyce Young at youngjoyce41@hotmail.com.
